Suspected Pakistani Drones Spotted Along Jammu and Kashmir Border, Search Operations Launched

Security forces detected the movement of suspected drones along the International Border (IB) and the Line of Control (LoC) in multiple areas of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday evening, prompting immediate countermeasures and ground search operations, officials told news agency.

According to officials, all the flying objects entered from the Pakistan side, hovered over Indian territory for a few minutes, and returned across the border. No immediate damage or casualties were reported.

Following the sightings, security forces launched search operations on the ground to rule out any arms drop or infiltration attempt.

Timeline of Drone Sightings

Here is a breakdown of the incidents reported across different sectors:

  • Nowshera sector, Rajouri (6.35 pm):
    Army personnel opened fire with machine guns after spotting drone movement over Gania-Kalsian village along the LoC.
  • Teryath area, Rajouri (6.35 pm):
    Another drone with a blinking light was seen over Khabbar village, coming from the direction of Dharmsal village in Kalakote and moving towards Bharakh, officials said.
  • Ramgarh sector, Samba (around 7.15 pm):
    A drone-like object hovered for several minutes over Chak Babral village, raising security concerns along the International Border.
  • Mankote sector, Poonch (6.25 pm):
    Yet another drone-like object was observed moving from Tain towards Topa along the LoC.

Earlier Arms Drop Recovery Raises Alarm

The latest sightings come just days after security forces recovered an arms consignment on Friday night in Paloora village of Ghagwal, near the International Border in Samba district. The consignment was allegedly dropped by a drone originating from Pakistan.

Recovered items included:

  • Two pistols
  • Three magazines
  • 16 rounds of ammunition
  • One grenade

Officials said the repeated drone activity highlights continued attempts to smuggle arms and conduct reconnaissance along the border.

Security agencies remain on high alert, with intensified surveillance and search operations continuing in the affected areas.
