New Delhi— Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) ended their league stage on a dominant note as they thrashed Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 110 runs in a high-scoring affair at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. The result not only revived SRH’s playoff hopes but also summed up a turbulent and inconsistent season for KKR, who crashed out of IPL 2025 in eighth place.
🔥 Klaasen’s Record Blitz Leads SRH to 278
Batting first after Pat Cummins won the toss, SRH unleashed one of the most ferocious batting displays in IPL history, piling up 278/3 — the third-highest total in tournament history.
The onslaught began with Travis Head (76 off 40) and Abhishek Sharma (32 off 16) putting on a whirlwind opening partnership of 79 in the Powerplay. After Sharma’s dismissal, Heinrich Klaasen took center stage, demolishing the KKR bowling attack en route to a 37-ball century — the fastest of the 2025 season.

Klaasen remained unbeaten on 105 off 47 balls, hitting boundaries and sixes with stunning ease. He was supported by Ishan Kishan in a brisk 50-run partnership that took just 21 balls. The innings ended with SRH at a commanding 278/3 in 20 overs.

Sunil Narine (2/42) was the only bright spot for KKR with the ball, claiming the key wickets of Sharma and Head.
🏏 KKR Collapse Under Pressure
In response, KKR needed everything to go their way. But despite a promising 37-run opening stand between Quinton de Kock and Sunil Narine, the innings unraveled quickly.
Narine’s attacking 31 off 16 was cut short by Jaydev Unadkat, who struck again to remove Ajinkya Rahane (15). The middle order crumbled with de Kock (9), Rinku Singh (9), and Andre Russell (0) all falling cheaply. KKR found themselves reeling at 70/5, with the game effectively over inside 10 overs.
Late efforts from Manish Pandey (37) and Harshit Rana (34 off 21) provided some resistance, but the damage was long done. KKR were bowled out for 168 in 18.4 overs.
SRH’s bowling trio of Unadkat (3/24), Eshan Malinga (3/31), and Harsh Dubey (3/34) shared the spoils and kept the pressure relentless throughout.
📉 KKR’s Season Ends in Disappointment
The loss confirmed KKR’s exit, finishing with 5 wins, 7 losses, and 1 no result. Reflecting on the performance, skipper Ajinkya Rahane admitted the team fell short in execution and intent.
“We tried our best, but we made a lot of errors throughout the innings as a bowling unit. This IPL is tough, and you have to be switched on all the time,” said Rahane.
📈 SRH Stay Alive
With this win, SRH moved to sixth in the standings (6 wins, 7 losses, 1 no result), giving themselves an outside shot at the playoffs depending on other results.
