The highly anticipated trailer for the film Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari has been officially released, offering a glimpse into a chaotic yet humorous love story. The film, backed by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, stars Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor as a pair of heartbroken individuals who team up to make their respective exes, played by Sanya Malhotra and Rohit Saraf, jealous.
The trailer, launched with much fanfare in Mumbai, reveals a convoluted plot. Varun’s character, Sunny, is determined to win back his ex, Ananya (Sanya Malhotra), while Janhvi’s character, Tulsi, faces a similar situation with her ex, Vikram (Rohit Saraf). When they discover that their exes are getting married to each other, Sunny and Tulsi devise a plan to fake a relationship to sabotage the wedding and win their partners back.
What follows is a mix of humorous confrontations, romantic moments, and grand dance numbers set against the backdrop of a lavish Indian wedding. The trailer is filled with witty one-liners and references to classic Bollywood films, with a particular scene showing Varun using his father, David Dhawan’s, film Raja Babu to craft a romantic poem. The film’s premise has drawn comparisons to the 1998 hit Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha, starring Kajol and Ajay Devgn, which followed a similar storyline.
Directed by Shashank Khaitan, who previously helmed Varun Dhawan’s Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and Badrinath Ki Dulhania, the film is considered a spiritual successor to the “Dulhania” franchise. In addition to the lead cast, the film also features Maniesh Paul, Akshay Oberoi, and Abhinav Sharma in supporting roles.
Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari is produced by Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, Adar Poonawalla, and Shashank Khaitan. The film is slated to hit theaters on October 2, coinciding with the festive occasion of Dussehra.
