Actor Sunny Deol’s iconic action film Ghatak will be re-released on March 21, 2025, at the Red Lorry Film Festival. The announcement was made via the festival’s official Instagram page, which shared an exciting update about the cult classic’s return to the big screen: “Brace yourself for the return of a cult classic! GHATAK is hitting the big screen once again at the Red Lorry Film Festival. Relive the action on 21st March 2025 on the big screen!”
The film, originally released during Diwali in 1996, completed 28 years since its debut last year. Directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, Ghatak has remained a fan favourite for its gripping storyline, intense action sequences, powerful performances, and memorable dialogues. Sunny Deol’s portrayal of a determined man fighting against the odds left an indelible mark on the audience.
To celebrate the milestone, the Gadar actor shared a nostalgic video on his Instagram, showcasing some of the film’s most iconic scenes and lines. In the post, Sunny also paid tribute to the late Amrish Puri, who played the role of Kashi Nath, a formidable crime lord in the film. “28 years of #Ghatak! My Diwali Release of 1996! Directed by #RajKumarSantoshi, Miss you #AmrishPuri sahab,” he wrote.
Alongside Sunny Deol, Ghatak starred Danny Denzongpa and Meenakshi Seshadri in key roles. Upon its release, the film was a massive hit and is still remembered for its powerful dialogues and emotional depth. Fans can now relive the high-octane action on the big screen once again.
