On Raksha Bandhan, a day traditionally celebrating the bond between brothers and sisters, Mandhira Kapur took to Instagram to share a heartfelt post about her late brother, businessman Sunjay Kapur. Her emotional tribute, however, also hinted at ongoing family tensions and a sense of duty to protect what her brother had built.
In the post, which included a picture of her with her brother and mother, Mandhira expressed her deep sadness and the difficulty of the day. “The thread that binds us, invisible yet strong, remains unbroken,” she wrote, reflecting on their bond. She also spoke about feeling a new sense of responsibility to uphold her brother’s wishes and their father’s dream, a role she noted was supposed to be his.
“Protecting your memory is my sacred duty. We are brave, and I know you’ll continue to protect us.”
This poignant message comes amid a growing family feud over Sunjay’s company, Sona Comstar. Following his death, his mother, Rani Kapur, has raised questions about the circumstances surrounding his passing and has alleged that she was pressured into signing documents. Rani has filed a criminal complaint in the UK, calling for an investigation into her son’s “mysterious” death, a claim that Sona Comstar has denied, stating that she has had no role in the company since 2019.
Sunjay Kapur, the former husband of Bollywood actor Karisma Kapoor, died on June 12 at Windsor’s Guards Polo Club. His death was officially ruled to be from natural causes, specifically cardiac-related issues. The postmortem report cited Left Ventricular Hypertrophy and Ischaemic Heart Disease as the cause of death.
