Meryl Streep’s Miranda Priestly Returns In The Devil Wears Prada Sequel: Cast, Plot, And Release Date Revealed

Los Angeles – Get ready, fashionistas: Miranda Priestly is back. After 18 years, Disney has officially confirmed a sequel to the beloved 2006 film The Devil Wears Prada, with a release date set for May 1, 2026. The announcement has sent fans into a frenzy, and now we have fresh details on the cast, storyline, and what to expect from the return of Runway’s icy editor-in-chief.

Confirmed Cast and Crew

According to Entertainment Weekly, the sequel will reunite the original cast:

  • Meryl Streep as Miranda Priestly
  • Anne Hathaway as Andy Sachs
  • Emily Blunt as Emily Charlton
  • Stanley Tucci as Nigel

Director David Frankel and producer Wendy Finerman are also returning, along with screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna, who penned the original screenplay.

Stanley Tucci expressed his excitement to People, saying:

“If it does happen, I can only say that I’ll be happy. I’ve made many movies, I’ve probably made close to 100 movies, and I don’t even know how many television episodes, but that experience was one of the greatest experiences I’ve ever had.”

What’s the Plot This Time?

As reported by E! Online, the sequel will explore Miranda’s struggle to save her magazine in the digital age. With the decline of print journalism, Miranda must reinvent her business—and the only person who might be able to help is her former assistant turned executive, Emily Charlton (played by Emily Blunt), now working at a luxury fashion group.

Screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna reflected on how much the world has changed since the original film:

“Magazines and publishing have changed so much,” she told Entertainment Weekly.
“This is a period of time where [Andy] took a physical book to someone’s house every day so she could leaf through it. Maybe they still do that, but I doubt it. It had its moment!”

When Will It Release?

Per Variety, Disney has officially locked in May 1, 2026 as the global release date for The Devil Wears Prada 2.

A Cult Classic Returns

The original 2006 film, adapted from Lauren Weisberger’s 2003 novel, was a massive commercial hit, grossing $326.7 million worldwide. Meryl Streep’s portrayal of Miranda Priestly earned her a Golden Globe and an Oscar nomination for Best Actress in a Comedy.

With fashion, drama, and a stellar cast making a grand return, the sequel is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated films of 2026.
