The makers of Stranger Things have officially unveiled the teaser for their upcoming animated spin-off series, Stranger Things: Tales From ’85, transporting fans back to Hawkins, Indiana, during the winter of 1985. Netflix released the over two-minute-long teaser on its official YouTube channel on Monday, sparking excitement among fans of the franchise.
What the Tales From ’85 teaser reveals
The teaser opens with an ominous warning that “something survived” after the events of Stranger Things Season 2, when Eleven shut the gate to the Upside Down at Hawkins Lab — seemingly ending the town’s nightmare.
Set during what initially appears to be a calm winter break, the story follows the familiar Hawkins crew — Mike Wheeler, Eleven (Jane Hopper), Dustin Henderson, Lucas Sinclair, Will Byers, and Steve Harrington — as they enjoy snowball fights, Dungeons & Dragons sessions, and moments of normalcy.
However, the peaceful atmosphere doesn’t last long. A mysterious and dangerous force begins to stir beneath the snow-covered streets of Hawkins, forcing the group back into action. The teaser hints at a chilling new threat whose origins remain unclear — whether it comes from the Upside Down, Hawkins Lab, or somewhere entirely unknown.

The animated series will begin streaming on Netflix from April 23.
According to the official logline shared by Deadline, the series is set during the winter of 1985, a time when the horrors of the Upside Down seem to be fading. The characters have returned to everyday life, but an unseen danger awakens beneath the ice, pushing them into a race against time to uncover the truth and save Hawkins once again.
