Stalker And Accomplices Attack DU Student With Acid In Delhi’s Ashok Vihar; Family Alleges Police Pressure To ‘Compromise’

A 20-year-old student at Delhi University was savagely attacked with acid on Sunday in the Ashok Vihar district of the city. She got burns on her hands. As she walked by Laxmi Bai College, her claimed stalker, Jitender, and two of his friends went after her.

The girl, who was in her second year of college, had about five percent burns on both hands as she immediately raised her bag and hands to protect her face. When the student told media about the terrible event, they added, “It all happened in seconds.” They came and poured acid on me. My backpack and phone helped me save face. But my phone was entirely destroyed. “I couldn’t even call anyone.”

Family says police didn’t do anything about the accused stalking the victim for more than a year.
People think the incident was the result of a lengthy time of harassment. The victim’s father and a high-ranking police officer (DCP) said that the main suspect, Jitender, had been following the student for more than a year.

The victim’s family has made worrying claims of widespread carelessness. The victim’s younger brother informed media that his sister had been being harassed for a long time. Last month, she tried to fix the problem by talking to the stalker’s wife.

“My sister has been dealing with harassment for a long time. She even talked to Jitendra’s wife about the stalking and harassment last month. But his wife embarrassed my sister in front of everyone and said horrible things. The brother said, “There was a big fight.”

More importantly, the brother said that the family had already gone to the police about the stalking, but they didn’t care. He said, “The beat staff told us to meet halfway.” The family is scared because the three people who are accused—Jitender and his friends Ishan and Arman—are still on the run. “My sister has been hurt now. The police haven’t caught him yet. “We’re scared because he’s still out there,” he said.

DUSU President Calls for Immediate Arrest
The event has many some on campus quite angry. Aryan Maan, the president of the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU), met with the victim and talked to the press, calling for harsh punishment and the quick arrest of all three suspects.

Maan repeated what the victim said, saying that she had been stalked and harassed for a year and a half, even though she begged the man to leave her alone. The victim told Maan that three males came on a bike, and Jitender was the one who hurled the corrosive substance. “The person who hurled the acid is Jitender… He has a wife and a child who is one and a half years old. Maan told media that all three of the offenders should be detained shortly.

Police have opened a case and are looking for Jitender and his two accomplices.
