SSC Revises Disability Certificate Format For PwBD Candidates; New Forms Mandatory For Upcoming Recruitments

New Delhi: The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has announced a revision in the format of disability certificates for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD), following directives from the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD). The newly updated formats will now be accepted for all ongoing and upcoming recruitment processes.

The revised structure will replace the earlier three formats—Form V, VI and VII—that were previously used across various SSC notifications. Under the updated system, the disability certificate formats are as follows:

  • Form V: Certificate of disability for single disability
  • Form VI: Certificate of disability for multiple disabilities

Candidates can download the official circular and the updated formats by visiting the SSC’s website or through the link provided in the latest notification.

The SSC further clarified that for examinations where notices were issued after October 16, 2024, and where the recruitment process is still underway, candidates may either submit their disability certificate in the newly revised formats (Form V and Form VI as per the DEPwD Notification dated 16.10.2024) or continue using the previous formats.

Additionally, the Commission has urged all aspirants to carefully review the eligibility criteria mentioned in examination notices. SSC emphasised that candidates must ensure their documents, including disability certificates, strictly comply with the prescribed standards to avoid discrepancies during the verification stage.
