In the Wake Of Pahalgam Tragedy, Srinagar Youths Rally In Luxury Cars To Send Message Of Unity: “Kashmir Is Still Home”

In the aftermath of the tragic April 22 terrorist attack that rocked Pahalgam, the streets — once vibrant with tourists — have fallen silent, casting a long shadow over Kashmir’s tourism-dependent economy.
But this past weekend, that silence was broken — not by fear, but by the thundering engines of hope.

A convoy of luxury cars, driven by young men from Srinagar, cruised through the empty roads of Pahalgam, carrying bold messages of “United Against Terror”. Their goal was simple yet powerful: to show the world that terror will not define Kashmirpeace, strength, and solidarity will.

Speaking to media, Imtiyaz, one of the participants, emphasized that their rally was a spontaneous, heartfelt act by a group of friends.
“We don’t represent any foundation or organization. We just came to show our deep sorrow and to ask everyone to continue trusting this place. It may take time, but Kashmir welcomes everyone with open arms,” he said.

Another participant, Kabir, highlighted the growing stigma Kashmiris are facing nationwide after the attack.
“Just because a few people committed violence doesn’t mean all Kashmiris are responsible,” Kabir said.
“Our kids are studying outside; they are being harassed. Through this drive, we want to say: Kashmiris are not terrorists. We are human beings first.”

Zuhaib Khan, another member of the group, echoed the sentiment, stressing unity over division.
“Neither Hinduism nor Islam permits such acts. This tragedy hurt everyone, regardless of religion. Our message to the country is: Please continue coming to Kashmir. Your absence only strengthens those who want to spread hate,” he said.

The convoy, comprising luxury cars, caught the attention of locals and tourists alike, aiming to break the false narratives circulating outside the Valley.
“We posted photos and reels to show that Pahalgam is safe, that tourists are moving around freely, and that locals are as welcoming as ever,” said Zuhaib.

Importantly, the youth made it clear that their rally was apolitical, non-violent, and rooted purely in human solidarity.

Their message resonated loud and clear: Terror will not silence Kashmir’s spirit. The people of Kashmir — Hindu, Muslim, or otherwise — remain united in grief, resilience, and hope.
