Spotify experienced a widespread outage, with a large majority of users reporting that the app suddenly stopped working, preventing them from listening to music or podcasts.
According to Downdetector, 94% of users faced issues with the Spotify app, while 5% struggled with audio streaming. Another 1% encountered problems with the website.
Users took to social media to highlight the disruption. One user wrote, “I go to listen to a podcast and it completely closes the app.” Another added, “I keep getting logged out for no reason.”
Many users echoed similar complaints on X (formerly Twitter), asking whether Spotify was down for others as well. Some reported that the app wouldn’t open at all.
Spotify responded with a brief statement on X, saying, “We’re looking into this at the moment.”
Downdetector Confirms Broad Outage
Early on November 18, Downdetector recorded over 900 outage reports, showing a sharp increase from the usual baseline. The outage curve stayed elevated throughout the day, revealing widespread disruption across regions.
Downdetector tracks user-submitted issues for major platforms such as X, Instagram, Facebook, and more, and flags an outage only when issue reports spike significantly above normal levels.
