New Delhi [India]: Indian sports legends Neeraj Chopra and Sachin Tendulkar joined the nation in welcoming the New Year 2025, sharing festive greetings and heartfelt messages with fans.

Olympic gold medalist and javelin world champion Neeraj Chopra took to X to emphasize fitness and happiness.
“Happy New Year to all of you! Stay fit, stay happy,” Neeraj wrote, accompanied by a picture of him working out in the gym.

Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar shared a humorous post from New York, standing outside a telephone booth. His caption read, “Hello? Is it 2025?”

Indian cricketer KL Rahul, currently in Australia for the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy, shared a glimpse of the Sydney Harbour fireworks alongside his wife and Bollywood actress Athiya Shetty.

Indian all-rounder Washington Sundar, reflecting on his growth in 2024, wrote, “Another chance to grow, learn and appreciate every moment. Here’s to the journey ahead. Happy New Year y’all.” Sundar had a remarkable year, claiming 19 wickets in four Tests at an average of 17.42 and contributing 177 runs with the bat, including a half-century.

Celebrations Across India
India welcomed 2025 with joy and enthusiasm, marked by vibrant celebrations across cities. Parties, cultural events, and live music performances drew large crowds in Delhi’s hotspots, including Hauz Khas, Connaught Place, and Lajpat Nagar. The Delhi Police ensured safety with robust security measures.

In Punjab’s Amritsar, devotees gathered at the Golden Temple, while in Madhya Pradesh’s Bhopal and Uttar Pradesh’s Lucknow, people danced in the streets to celebrate. Mumbai’s beaches—Juhu, Chowpatty, and Versova—were packed with revellers enjoying spectacular fireworks, with many gathering at Marine Drive for the dazzling display.

Manali in Himachal Pradesh saw tourists dancing and cheering in the streets, while in West Bengal, people celebrated with mobile phone lights. Kerala’s Thiruvananthapuram welcomed the New Year with vibrant fireworks lighting up the sky.

In Andhra Pradesh’s Visakhapatnam, cakes were cut to mark the occasion, and Tamil Nadu’s Coimbatore streets resounded with the beats of percussion instruments, with Chennai witnessing massive crowds celebrating as the clock struck midnight.

From urban centres to serene tourist spots, India ushered in 2025 with celebrations that reflected its unity in diversity and boundless enthusiasm.
