PATAUDI, HARYANA — A tragic hit-and-run accident in Khod village late Friday night, March 27, 2026, has claimed the lives of a 52-year-old man and his two young grandchildren. The victims were struck by a speeding Mahindra Thar around 11:00 PM while they were out for a walk after dinner.

1. The Victims

The deceased have been identified as:

  • Subhash Khan (52): A resident of Khod village.
  • Ishant Khan (10) and Jaid Khan (8): Brothers from Bhiwadi, Rajasthan, who were visiting their maternal grandfather (Subhash) for the holidays.

The trio had reportedly gone to meet Subhash’s younger brother and were walking back home when the SUV lost control and rammed into them. They were declared dead on arrival at the Pataudi Community Health Centre.

2. Eyewitness Account: “Fled Within Minutes”

According to witnesses at the scene:

  • The Thar was being driven at an extremely high speed before it hit the victims and became wedged between a roadside tree and an electric pole.
  • The Escape: The driver reportedly made a phone call immediately after the crash. Minutes later, another car arrived at the spot. The driver abandoned the damaged Thar and fled in the second vehicle without offering any assistance to the victims.
  • CCTV Evidence: The entire incident, including the driver’s escape, was captured on a nearby CCTV camera, which has since been seized by the police.

3. Police Investigation & Charges

Inspector Braham Prakash, SHO of Pataudi police station, confirmed that the vehicle and the driver have been identified.

  • The Vehicle: The Thar is registered in Gurugram and owned by a resident of Inchha Puri (a neighboring village). However, investigators found it was being driven by the owner’s brother-in-law at the time of the accident.
  • Legal Action: Police are in the process of registering an FIR under Section 106 (causing death by negligence) and Section 281 (rash driving) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The formal complaint is expected once the children’s parents arrive from Rajasthan.
