Los Angeles [US], July 18: Game of Thrones stars Sophie Turner and Kit Harington are set to share the screen once again — but this time, not as siblings. The actors, who famously portrayed half-siblings Sansa Stark and Jon Snow in the HBO fantasy epic, are reuniting in the upcoming gothic horror film The Dreadful, where they will take on romantic roles.
In an interview cited by People, Turner revealed,
“I did a movie last year which I’m really excited about with my old but very good friend Kit Harington, who played my brother on Game of Thrones. We’re doing a gothic horror, but we play lovers. Sorry guys, it’s really weird for all of us.”
The announcement sparked both excitement and surprise among fans of Game of Thrones, who spent years watching the duo share a platonic sibling bond on screen. Turner herself acknowledged the awkwardness, apologizing playfully to fans.
About the Film
The Dreadful, directed by Natasha Kermani, is set during the War of the Roses era and follows Anne (Turner) and her mother-in-law Morwen (played by Marcia Gay Harden), who are leading a difficult life in isolation. The plot takes a dark turn when a mysterious man (Harington) from their past reappears, unleashing a series of unsettling events.
The cast also includes Laurence O’Fuarain and Jonathan Howard, though the release date and further plot details remain under wraps.
From Winterfell to the Big Screen
Turner and Harington both rose to global fame with Game of Thrones, which aired from 2011 to 2019. While their characters were initially believed to be half-siblings, it was later revealed that Jon Snow’s true parentage made him Sansa’s cousin.
In February 2024, Turner teased the reunion with Harington on social media, writing,
“I mean we couldn’t NOT hang out again ya know. #thedreadful”
The film marks the first major collaboration between the two since the Game of Thrones finale, and fans will now see them explore a dramatically different dynamic on screen.
