Actor Sonu Sood recently shared insights into the challenges and rewards of his directorial debut, Fateh, in a conversation with media. The film, which hit theaters on January 10, revolves around the fight against cybercrime and is inspired by real-life events from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Reflecting on his experience, Sood expressed excitement about stepping into the director’s chair:
“Yes, of course, I also have to direct more films. I truly enjoyed directing the film, and it is about the experience and satisfaction you get as a director. So, of course, get ready for the second soon.”
High-Octane Action and Hollywood Collaboration
One of the standout elements of Fateh is its action-packed sequences, choreographed by renowned stunt director Lee Whittaker, known for his work on Captain Marvel and Fast & Furious 5. The film’s music also garnered attention, with Hans Zimmer’s song “To the Moon” adding intensity to the story.
On working with top-notch talent, Sood admitted it was challenging but rewarding:
“I wanted to work with the best of the best in the world. A lot of people, including the action director who worked on Fast & Furious and Jurassic Park, and Hans Zimmer, who created ‘To the Moon’… getting all these people from Hollywood was a big challenge. But like I said, when you are doing your first, you have to make sure you get the best.”
Raising Awareness About Cybercrime
The film sheds light on cyber scams, deepfakes, and instant loan app frauds that prey on vulnerable individuals. Sood emphasized the importance of educating the public, especially the younger generation, about these issues:
“Everything that comes, comes with pros and cons. The scams we come across always target the needy. It is not about the rich or famous getting scammed but about the common man. I think in schools and colleges, it should be brought to notice.”
Audience Love and Gratitude
Sood expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming support from fans:
“Thank you so much for the wishes. The whole team is pretty excited. The film is doing well in the second week, and we have more shows. It gives you a feeling that we are on the right track, and people love the film. They are coming back again and again to watch it.”
On his vision for Fateh, he added:
“I always wanted to do action that no one has seen on the screen. Fateh was one such project I will always cherish throughout my life. As a first-time filmmaker, there is so much to learn, but I will try to give my best in the second film.”
Box Office Performance
Fateh recorded a strong opening week, grossing ₹21.18 crore, according to industry analysts.
Sonu Sood recently attended a special screening of the movie alongside BJP MP Manoj Tiwari, interacting with fans and specially-abled individuals, further showcasing his commitment to connecting with audiences.
