Sonia Gandhi’s Health Stable, Under Observation At Sir Ganga Ram Hospital For Stomach Infection

New Delhi [India], June 19: Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, who is currently undergoing treatment for a stomach infection at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in the national capital, is stable and responding well to treatment, hospital authorities confirmed on Thursday.

Dr Ajay Swaroop, Chairman of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, said,
“Sonia Gandhi is responding positively to treatment. Her health is stable, and a specific diet plan has been introduced today as part of her ongoing care. She remains under close observation.”

Gandhi, 78, has been admitted under the supervision of the Department of Surgical Gastroenterology since Sunday, June 15. A team of doctors, including Dr S Nundy and Dr Amitabh Yadav, is overseeing her treatment.

The hospital noted that while her recovery is progressing well, no discharge date has been confirmed yet and will depend on further medical assessments.

Earlier updates from the hospital on June 16 and June 17 also indicated that Sonia Gandhi was stable and recovering, with her diet and condition closely monitored as a precautionary measure.

Prior to her current hospitalization, Gandhi had also visited Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital in Shimla on June 7 for a routine check-up, according to Naresh Chauhan, Principal Advisor (Media) to the Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister.
