New Delhi [India], July 13: Congress Parliamentary Party (CPP) Chairperson Sonia Gandhi has called a meeting of the party’s parliamentary strategy group on July 15 to finalize Congress’s approach for the upcoming Monsoon Session of Parliament.
The Monsoon Session will run from July 21 to August 21, with no sittings scheduled on August 13 and 14 due to Independence Day celebrations.
Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju announced that the central government will convene an all-party meeting on July 19, two days before the session begins. The meeting is aimed at ensuring smooth functioning and discussing the legislative agenda.
This will be the first full Parliament session following Operation Sindoor, India’s military operation launched on May 7 in response to the deadly terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam, which claimed 26 lives.
The last Parliament session—the Budget Session—began on January 31 and included 26 sittings. During that session, major legislations such as the Waqf Amendment Bill and several Appropriation Bills were passed.
Key financial matters such as the Demands for Grants for various ministries, including Railways, Jal Shakti, and Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, were discussed and voted on. The Finance Bill, 2025, was passed in the Lok Sabha on March 25.
The Rajya Sabha also discussed the functioning of critical ministries like Education, Railways, Health & Family Welfare, and Home Affairs.
With the Monsoon Session set to cover key national issues and legislative business, political parties are now mobilizing to outline their strategies in the coming days.
