Mumbai, India: Ajay Devgn’s Son Of Sardaar 2 easily beat Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri’s Dhadak 2 at the box office this past weekend, even though critics liked Dhadak 2 more.
On its first day, Friday, Son Of Sardaar 2 made ₹7.25 crore, and then it made ₹8.25 crore on Saturday and ₹9.25 crore on Sunday, according to the trade tracking site Sacnilk. This raised its total revenue for the first weekend to a very astounding ₹24.75 crore. Vijay Kumar Arora directed the movie, which is a sequel to the 2012 action-comedy. Mrunal Thakur, Ravi Kishan, and Sanjay Mishra also star in it.
Dhadak 2, on the other hand, had a hard time getting going at the box office, even though critics liked it. The movie made ₹3.5 crore on Friday, and then it only grew a little over the weekend, making ₹3.75 crore on Saturday and ₹4.15 crore on Sunday. It made a meager ₹11.4 crore in its first weekend, which is less than half of what Son Of Sardaar 2 made.
Saiyaara, a romance drama with Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, was released earlier and is giving both movies a lot of competition. Saiyaara was out on July 18 and has been a huge hit at the box office, making an amazing ₹83.25 crore in its first weekend and still going strong. The movie has made about ₹300 crore so far, and on its 17th day, it made ₹8 crore, which is more than the daily receipts of both new releases.
In Son Of Sardaar 2, Jassi (Ajay Devgn) tries to make up with his wife (Mrunal Thakur) while dealing with a crazy Sikh wedding and a mob fight in Scotland. People tend to like the blend of comedy and action in the movie more than the romantic drama in Dhadak 2.
