San Francisco/New York – Indian software engineer Soham Parekh, who recently faced accusations of scamming startups by working multiple tech jobs simultaneously in the US, has admitted to holding several positions at once but insists he did it out of financial necessity, not greed or deceit.
In a candid interview with The Backroom Podcast Network (TBPN), Parekh confirmed, “It is true,” when asked whether he juggled multiple full-time roles. The allegations against him gained public attention after Mixpanel co-founder Suhail Doshi posted a tweet branding him a scammer, prompting heated debate online.
“Not Proud, Not Endorsing It”
When pressed about potential violations of employment contracts or legal boundaries, Parekh responded:
“I’m not proud of what I’ve done. It’s not something I endorse either,” he said.
“Financial circumstances essentially. No one really likes to work 140 hours a week but I had to do it out of necessity.”
Parekh emphasized that his actions were driven by desperation and not an attempt to exploit employers.
“Honestly, going back to how it started and what the motivations were… I would want to preface with saying I’m not proud,” he reiterated.
Denies Outsourcing His Work
There were widespread claims on social media that Parekh had allegedly outsourced his tasks to junior developers while pocketing full-time salaries from multiple companies. However, Parekh denied those allegations:
“I wrote every inch of code,” he said, rejecting the notion that he turned his multi-job setup into a small business operation.
From Mumbai to the US
Parekh also shared a bit about his personal background, stating that he was born in Mumbai and relocated to the United States in 2020.
He had initially planned to pursue graduate studies in the US in 2018, but due to financial constraints, he delayed the move and eventually entered the workforce directly.
