Soha Ali Khan Steps Into The Shadows As Antagonist In Horror Sequel Chhorii 2

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India]: The spine-chilling horror of Chhorii returns this month with Chhorii 2, the much-anticipated sequel to the 2021 cult horror film. The sequel stars Nushrratt Bharuccha reprising her role and introduces Soha Ali Khan in a chilling new avatar as the film’s primary antagonist — Daasi Maa.

In an exclusive conversation with ANI, Soha opened up about her transformation into the dark role and described the experience as one that pushed her completely out of her comfort zone.

“I am very proud to be part of this film. I liked the first part. I enjoy the horror genre a lot. And playing a negative role as an antagonist is a great opportunity for any actor, especially for me,” said Soha.

💀 A Role Unlike Any Other

Soha revealed that Daasi Maa is a complex and physically demanding character, featuring multiple looks, prosthetics, VFX-heavy scenes, and a distinct dialect that required intensive preparation.

“To be given the role of Daasi Maa with her many forms… it was a big challenge. It was very different, totally out of my comfort zone, but that’s the challenge,” she said.

Adding to the challenge was the costume design, which influenced her movements and performance, demanding a full-body transformation.

“Her costume made her walk differently, too. So yes, it had a strong physical element,” she added.

🪢 Suspended in Fear — Literally

In one intense sequence, Soha had to perform while suspended mid-air using wire rigging, something she admitted left her nervous and vulnerable.

“In one scene, I was tied up and hanging from wires. I felt that if I fell, how would I protect myself? It was scary,” she shared.

🎬 What to Expect from Chhorii 2

The recently released trailer sets a haunting tone. It opens with Nushrratt’s character narrating a dark fairytale to her daughter — one involving a king who orders a daasi to kill a newborn girl. The story then spirals into deeper horrors, blurring the lines between folklore and nightmare.

Directed once again by Vishal Furia, who helmed the original Chhorii, the sequel also stars Gashmeer Mahajani, Saurabh Goyal, Pallavi Ajay, Kuldeep Sareen, and Hardika Sharm.

The film is backed by an impressive production team, with T-Series, Abundantia Entertainment, Psych, and Tamarisk Lane Production bringing this horror tale to life.

🗓️ Chhorii 2 Premieres Worldwide on April 11, 2025

Fans of the horror genre — and particularly of slow-burn Indian horror with a social twist — won’t want to miss this terrifying new chapter.
