Sofia Mattsson Exits ‘General Hospital’ After Seven Years As Sasha Gilmore

Sofia Mattsson, who portrayed Sasha Gilmore—the daughter of Holly Sutton (Emma Samms) and Robert Scorpio (Tristan Rogers)—on the long-running soap opera General Hospital, has officially bid farewell to the show after a seven-year run, according to E! News.

Her final episode, which aired on July 18, featured Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) assisting Sasha in fleeing the country with her baby Daisy, for their safety.

Reflecting on her journey, Mattsson said,
“I started off thinking it would be just a few episodes on recurring status, so I definitely did not think I’d stay so long,” she shared, adding,
“But I will say it’s gone by incredibly quickly. From the start, I’ve seen every day as a challenge and opportunity to grow as an actress, and honestly, that mindset never stopped. I feel like I learned something new every day until the end,” reported E! News.

From Nerves to Nostalgia

Recalling her early days on set, Sofia admitted the experience was both overwhelming and exciting.
“I remember being very nervous and overwhelmed, but in a good way,” she said.
“It definitely took some getting used to the fast pace and heavy material, but I loved the challenge. I also remember really enjoying Sasha’s earlier days of being a bit of a bad girl; that’s always fun to play,” she told E! News.

A Supportive Cast and Lasting Memories

Being part of a show that has aired since 1963, Mattsson highlighted how lucky she was to work alongside seasoned soap opera veterans.
“Honestly, most people on the show are very helpful to newcomers,” she gushed.
“I guess everyone remembers how lost you can feel during the early days,” referring to supportive co-stars like Michelle Stafford and Donnell Turner.

In what was her first major soap opera role, Sofia embraced every twist the writers threw her way.
“All of those twists and turns along the way is part of what makes it so fun for an actress,” she reflected, as reported by E! News.

Sasha Gilmore’s exit marks the end of a memorable chapter for General Hospital fans, but Mattsson’s journey on the show will undoubtedly remain etched in the hearts of viewers and colleagues alike.
