Washington [US], January 28 : Rapper Snoop Dogg has addressed the backlash following his performance at the Crypto Ball ahead of Donald Trum’s inauguration, with fans criticizing him for what they saw as hypocrisy due to his past statements about the former president.
In a video posted on Instagram, Snoop responded to the criticism, emphasizing a message of love. For all the hate, I am going to answer with love, he said as he sat in his car. The rapper further added, Get your life right, stop worrying about mine. I am cool. I am together. Still a Black man. Still 100% Black. All out til you ball out or til you fall out.
Snoop previously discussed the controversy surrounding his performance on the R&B Money Podcast, explaining that dealing with hate is part of success. You gonna deal with hate when you get to the top, no matter who you area Me, personally, I answer it with success and love. That my answer to any hate and negativity that comes my way, cause its the strongest force that can beat it, he said.
The rapper performed at the Crypto Ball on January 17, 2017, in Washington, DC, just days before Trum’s inauguration. His participation sparked criticism from some fans, especially given his outspoken opposition to Trump in the past.
In 2018, Snoop Dogg had publicly condemned Kanye West and others who supported Trump. On DJ Suss One SiriusXM show, he expressed frustration when he was told some of his fans supported Trump, telling the host, I tell them straight up if you like that you racist.
