Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], January 6: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a 15-player squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Ireland, set to take place at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot.
In the absence of captain Harmanpreet Kaur, who has been rested for the series, Smriti Mandhana will take over as the captain. All-rounder Deepti Sharma will serve as her deputy.
The series, scheduled to start on January 10, will be a crucial opportunity for Mandhana, who has been in exceptional form recently. After leading India’s T20I and ODI series against the West Indies in December, Mandhana emerged as the highest run-scorer in the T20I series with 193 runs, averaging 64.33, and followed that up with solid performances in the ODIs.
Harleen Deol, who made a strong comeback to the Indian squad with a maiden ODI century against the West Indies, is also set to play a key role in the series against Ireland.
India’s women’s team enters the series with confidence after their dominant 3-0 ODI series sweep against the West Indies in December. The three ODIs against Ireland will be held on January 10, 12, and 15.
