Small Plane Crashes Near Shopping Centre In Northeast Philadelphia

A small plane with two people on board crashed near a shopping center in Northeast Philadelphia on Friday evening, prompting a large-scale emergency response. The Learjet 55, which had departed from Northeast Philadelphia Airport, was en route to Springfield-Branson National Airport in Missouri when it went down around 6:30 p.m.

The Philadelphia Office of Emergency Management reported a “major incident” near the intersection of Cottman and Bustleton Avenues in Northeast Philadelphia, across from the Roosevelt Mall. Authorities have closed off parts of Roosevelt Boulevard and advised residents to avoid the area.

Videos circulating on social media showed vehicles on fire and a large emergency response from local authorities. The full extent of casualties is still unknown as of the latest reports.
