Pune (Maharashtra) [India]: In a significant boost to the ‘Make in India’ initiative, Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited (SAVWIPL) has achieved a major milestone by producing 500,000 locally-manufactured engines at its Chakan facility in Pune.
The Chakan plant serves as a hub for technological innovation and localized production, playing a crucial role in Volkswagen Group’s global supply chain.
The locally produced engines include the 1.0-litre TSI and 1.5-litre TSI powertrains, equipped with advanced emission technologies and improved fuel efficiency to meet global environmental standards.
Andreas Dick, Skoda Auto a.s. Board Member for Production and Logistics, expressed pride in the achievement:
“Producing 500,000 engines at our Pune facility is a significant milestone, reinforcing India’s role in our global manufacturing network. Our investments in technology and workforce development continue to enhance our production capabilities, ensuring high-quality and cost-effective powertrains.”
