In light of escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, noted sitarist Rishab Sharma has postponed his scheduled concert in Indore. The performance was set to take place on the evening of May 9, but was called off due to safety concerns following the recent Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor.
Rishab took to Instagram to inform his fans about the change in plans.
“Hey there, Due to recent events in India and considering all safety measures, the event originally scheduled for 9th May in Indore has been postponed. I truly appreciate your patience, support, and understanding during this time. We are working closely with the concerned authorities to finalize a new date, which will be announced soon,” he wrote.
He also assured fans that all existing tickets would remain valid for the rescheduled event. For further updates, he directed attendees to contact Odistrictupdates.
The concert’s postponement comes amid mounting tensions following the Indian Army’s retaliation under Operation Sindoor, which targeted multiple terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). The operation was launched in response to the Pahalgam attack in April.
On the night of May 8 and 9, Pakistani forces launched multiple drone and munition-based attacks along India’s Western Border and the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir.
According to the Indian Army, these attacks were effectively repulsed, and a strong counter-response was issued.
“The Indian Army remains committed to safeguarding the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Nation. All nefarious designs will be responded with force,” said an official statement.
Officials also credited the Akash surface-to-air missile system, an indigenously developed air defence technology, for playing a key role in neutralising aerial threats during the attacks. Both the Indian Army and Air Force have now deployed the system along the Pakistan border for enhanced security.
