Aamir Khan’s latest release, Sitaare Zameen Par, is enjoying a solid run at the box office, crossing ₹123 crore worldwide in just five days. Directed by RS Prasanna, the sports comedy-drama marks Aamir’s return to the big screen after three years and hit theatres on June 21.
According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film has collected ₹75.15 crore net in India so far, with the gross domestic total reaching ₹90 crore. Add another ₹33 crore from overseas markets, and the film’s total worldwide collection stands at ₹123 crore.
Box Office Milestone:
With this figure, Sitaare Zameen Par has surpassed the lifetime box office earnings of Sunny Deol’s Jaat (₹118.36 crore) and is now inching closer to Aamir’s own Laal Singh Chaddha (₹133.5 crore).
About the Film:
A spiritual sequel to Aamir’s acclaimed 2007 film Taare Zameen Par, this film shifts the spotlight to sports. Aamir Khan stars as a basketball coach training a team of players with special needs. Actress Genelia D’Souza plays the female lead. The movie is a remake of the Spanish film Campeones and introduces ten debutant actors playing the specially-abled players.
