Aamir Khan’s latest release, Sitaare Zameen Par, is enjoying a solid run at the box office, crossing ₹123 crore worldwide in just five days. Directed by RS Prasanna, the sports comedy-drama marks Aamir’s return to the big screen after three years and hit theatres on June 21.

According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film has collected ₹75.15 crore net in India so far, with the gross domestic total reaching ₹90 crore. Add another ₹33 crore from overseas markets, and the film’s total worldwide collection stands at ₹123 crore.

Box Office Milestone:

With this figure, Sitaare Zameen Par has surpassed the lifetime box office earnings of Sunny Deol’s Jaat (₹118.36 crore) and is now inching closer to Aamir’s own Laal Singh Chaddha (₹133.5 crore).

About the Film:

A spiritual sequel to Aamir’s acclaimed 2007 film Taare Zameen Par, this film shifts the spotlight to sports. Aamir Khan stars as a basketball coach training a team of players with special needs. Actress Genelia D’Souza plays the female lead. The movie is a remake of the Spanish film Campeones and introduces ten debutant actors playing the specially-abled players.

Industry Reactions:

The film has received widespread praise from both critics and the audience. Celebrated lyricist Javed Akhtar took to X to applaud its performance:

“So happy to learn about the record leap that Sitaare Zameen Par has taken at the box office on the second day. Who says good films have no takers in the audience. Congratulations to Aamir Khan and his team.”
