Singapore High Commission Issues Health, Travel Advisory for Nationals as Delhi AQI Remains Severe

As Delhi’s air quality continued to stay in the ‘severe’ category on Monday, the Singapore High Commission in India issued an advisory urging its nationals living in the Delhi-NCR region to strictly follow health and safety instructions issued by local authorities.

In a post on its official X handle, the High Commission noted that on December 13, 2025, the Indian Central Pollution Control Board invoked Stage 4 — the highest level — of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) across the National Capital Region. Under GRAP Stage 4, construction and industrial activities are heavily restricted, while schools and offices are encouraged to shift to a hybrid mode of functioning.

The advisory highlighted that the Delhi government has urged residents, particularly children, senior citizens, and those suffering from respiratory or cardiac conditions, to remain indoors and wear masks if stepping outside. The High Commission asked Singapore nationals in the region to “pay heed” to these instructions in view of the hazardous air quality.

According to data from the Central Pollution Control Board’s Sameer app, the overall Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi stood at 437 at 2 pm on Monday. All air quality monitoring stations across the capital recorded AQI levels of 400 or above, placing the city firmly in the ‘severe’ category.

The High Commission also warned that poor visibility caused by dense smog could disrupt flight operations. It noted that the Indira Gandhi International Airport and several airlines have already issued advisories regarding delays and cancellations. Travellers were advised to stay in touch with their respective airlines and regularly check flight updates.
