In the aftermath of the Indian Armed Forces’ retaliatory Operation Sindoor, the family of Santosh Jagdale, who was killed in the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, has expressed deep gratitude and emotional pride over the operation and the symbolism behind its name.
“They Remember Us”: Widow Moved by Operation’s Name
Pragati Jagdale, wife of Santosh Jagdale, said she was overwhelmed upon hearing the name of the operation and thanked the Indian government and armed forces for recognising the pain of the widows left behind.
“Terrorists erased the sindoor of women. I got very emotional after reading the name [of the operation]. They remember us. I can’t speak much,” she said through tears at her residence.
“Modi has shown Pakistan that we will not sit quietly. They have attacked middle-class people like us. With Operation Sindoor, PM Modi will end terrorism.”
“Not Left in Vain”: Daughter Asavari Jagdale Speaks Out
Asavari Jagdale, daughter of Santosh, also praised the swift action taken by the Indian Army and government, saying it offered a sense of closure and justice.
“The loss of husbands and fathers was not left in vain. India has paid actual homage to them by striking,” she said.
“The name ‘Sindoor’ shows solidarity with the widows. I want to thank the Indian government for delivering justice within 15 days.”
She recalled the visit of Home Minister Amit Shah to Srinagar, where grieving widows pleaded for action, and said the operation’s name was a powerful response to that collective pain.
India’s Most Significant Strike Since 1971
The Indian Armed Forces, in a coordinated effort by the Army, Navy, and Air Force, carried out the deepest strikes inside Pakistani territory since 1971, targeting nine terror camps—four in Pakistan and five in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). The targets were hubs of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) leadership.
Sources confirmed that the operation, launched in the early hours of May 7, was executed with special precision munitions, and all strikes were successful and non-escalatory, carefully avoiding Pakistani military installations.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi personally monitored the progress of Operation Sindoor through the night, underlining the mission’s strategic and emotional importance.
Conclusion:
Operation Sindoor has not only marked a military milestone for India but also emerged as an emotional moment of national healing. For families like the Jagdales, it was more than a retaliatory action—it was a symbolic restoration of dignity, a tribute to their loss, and an assurance that India remembers.
