MUMBAI – The love movie Param Sundari, which stars Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor together for the first time, made a lot more money at the box office on its debut Saturday. The movie has picked up speed after a good opening day, which shows that good word-of-mouth is working in its favor.
Sacnilk, a company that tracks the movie business, said that Param Sundari made ₹7.25 crore on its first day in theaters on August 29. This was Sidharth Malhotra’s fifth biggest opening day. On the second day of the movie, it made a big jump, raking in ₹9.22 crore and taking its total domestic box office collection to ₹16.47 crore.
The sum for just two days is already more than the whole lifetime collection of the romantic comedy Mere Husband Ki Biwi, which featured Arjun Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar, and Rakul Preet Singh and made ₹12.85 crore.
The movie’s total is a good sign for the rom-com genre, but it’s nowhere near the level of a hit like Chennai Express, which made ₹28.05 crore on its second day. However, the fact that so many people went to see the movie on its second day is a good sign, even though critics had mixed feelings about it.
Dinesh Vijan made the movie under Maddock Films, and Tushar Jalota directed it. The tale is about a Delhi boy named Param (Sidharth Malhotra) who uses an AI software to discover his soulmate, which leads him to Sundari (Janhvi Kapoor), a girl from Kerala. People have liked the movie, which also stars Sanjay Kapoor, Manjot Singh, Innayat Verma, and Renji Panicker, because of the chemistry between the two main characters and the popular song. However, other people have said that the writing is too predictable and the tale is “dull.”
