Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], July 15: Actor Shweta Tripathi is stepping into film production with her debut feature Mujhe Jaan Na Kaho Meri Jaan, and she’s bringing acclaimed actress Tillotama Shome on board for the project.
As reported by Variety, the film will explore a queer love story and star both Tripathi and Shome in pivotal roles. The project will be directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Sanjoy Nag and is expected to go on floors by the end of 2025.
“This film is very close to my heart—not just because it’s my first as a producer, but because of what it stands for,” Tripathi told Variety. “Queer love stories deserve to be told with honesty, beauty, and nuance.”
She expressed her excitement about working with Shome, adding, “Having Tillotama on board makes this even more special. She’s not just a phenomenal actor; she’s also someone I deeply admire and trust. We’ve been wanting to work together for a long time, and I can’t think of a better project to begin this journey with.”
Tillotama Shome, known for her powerful performances in indie films like Sir, Monsoon Wedding, and A Death in the Gunj, brings depth and experience to the project. Her television credits include critically acclaimed shows like Paatal Lok, Delhi Crime, and The Night Manager.
Director Sanjoy Nag, who won a National Award for his debut feature Memories in March, will helm the film. His past work includes Yours Truly and Morning Sunshine.
The collaboration between Tripathi, Shome, and Nag is expected to deliver a heartfelt and nuanced take on queer love in Indian cinema.
