London [UK], June 8: A fresh chapter in Indian cricket has begun as the new-look Team India, led by newly-appointed Test captain Shubman Gill, kicked off preparations in London for their upcoming five-match Test series against England, starting June 20 at Leeds.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared a video on its official handle, offering a glimpse into the team’s first training session on English soil. The footage showed Gill, vice-captain Rishabh Pant, and pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah participating in warm-ups, fielding drills, and some spirited football, indicating high spirits and team bonding ahead of the high-pressure tour.
Major Transition for Indian Test Cricket
With the retirements of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli from the red-ball format, this series marks the beginning of a new era in Indian Test cricket. The responsibility now rests with Gill and the younger core to carry forward the legacy in challenging English conditions, where India last won a Test series in 2007.
Series Schedule
The five Test matches will be played at the following iconic venues:
- June 20–24: Headingley, Leeds
- June 28–July 2: Edgbaston, Birmingham
- July 10–14: Lord’s, London
- July 24–28: The Oval, London
- August 7–11: Old Trafford, Manchester
Spanning from June to August 2025, the series promises to test India’s new leadership group and squad depth while also offering a fresh narrative in red-ball cricket for Indian fans.
