Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh): Gujarat Titans (GT) captain Shubman Gill achieved a major milestone on Saturday by becoming the first player to score 2,000 runs for the franchise in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Gill reached the landmark during GT’s match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at Lucknow. He played a solid knock of 60 runs off 38 balls, hitting six fours and a six, at a strike rate of 157.89. He was involved in a crucial 120-run opening partnership with Sai Sudharsan, who contributed 56 off 37 balls.
Since making his debut for GT in 2022, Gill has now played 51 matches, scoring 2,007 runs at an average of 44.60 and a strike rate of 147.89. His record includes four centuries and 12 fifties, with a highest score of 129.

Across his IPL career—including his stint with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) from 2018 to 2021—Gill has featured in 109 matches, scoring 3,424 runs at an average of 38.04 and a strike rate of 136.46, with four centuries and 22 fifties.

In the match against LSG, after being put in to bat first, GT reached 180/6 in 20 overs, thanks to the strong opening stand between Gill (60) and Sudharsan (56). However, following their dismissals, GT’s innings lost momentum with quick exits of Washington Sundar (2), Jos Buttler (16), Sherfane Rutherford (22), and Rahul Tewatia (0).
