Dubai [UAE], April 8: Indian middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer has been named among the contenders for the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award for March 2025, following his match-winning performances during India’s victorious ICC Champions Trophy 2025 campaign.
Iyer stood out as a pivotal figure in India’s unbeaten run, scoring 243 runs in five matches, including two half-centuries. With an average of 48.60 and a composed strike rate of 77.47, he was India’s top scorer in the tournament. His key innings included a 79 against New Zealand in the group stage, 45 against Australia in the semi-final, and 48 in the final, once again against New Zealand, helping India lift the trophy.
Also in contention is New Zealand pacer Jacob Duffy, who dominated the five-match T20I series against Pakistan, finishing as the leading wicket-taker with 13 wickets at an average of 8.38. His standout figures included 4/14 in the first T20I and 4/20 in the fourth, contributing significantly to New Zealand’s 4-1 series victory. Duffy also took two wickets in the opening ODI against Pakistan, bringing his monthly tally to 15 wickets in six games and propelling him to the No. 1 spot in ICC T20I bowling rankings.
Rounding out the list of nominees is Rachin Ravindra, another Kiwi standout, who shined both with bat and ball during the Champions Trophy. Ravindra amassed 151 runs in March from three ODIs, with a blistering strike rate of 106.33 and average of 50.33. His defining moment came in the semi-final against South Africa, where he scored a stunning 108 and partnered with Kane Williamson for a 164-run stand, guiding New Zealand to a record Champions Trophy total. With the ball, he claimed three wickets at a tight economy rate of 4.66. His all-round brilliance earned him the Golden Bat and the Player of the Tournament award.
