Actor Shraddha Kapoor’s brother, Siddhanth Kapoor, appeared before Mumbai’s Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) in Ghatkopar on Tuesday in connection with the ongoing probe into a massive ₹252-crore drug case. The case has drawn significant public attention, especially after popular social media personality Orhan Awatramani, widely known as Orry, was also summoned for questioning.
According to officials, Siddhanth Kapoor had been asked to appear before investigators on November 25 to record his statement. Orry was scheduled to appear on November 26 after failing to attend an earlier summons due to being out of the city.
How the Case Began
The investigation dates back to August 2022, when the crime branch and Ghatkopar ANC arrested an accused named Shaikh from Nagpada and recovered mephedrone (MD) worth ₹1.19 lakh from him. This led to a series of arrests involving several drug peddlers over the following months.
The probe took a major turn in March 2024 after authorities busted a mephedrone-manufacturing facility operating out of a farmhouse in Sangli district. Officials said the facility was allegedly controlled by wanted drug trafficker Salim Dola, a key associate of the Dawood Ibrahim network, and his son Taher.
Taher was deported from the UAE and arrested by Mumbai Police in June 2024. His relative, Mustaffa Mohammad Khubbawala, was deported the following month. Another accused, Mohammad Salim Mohammad Suhail Shaikh, who has made several sensational claims about celebrity involvement, was deported in October and arrested on November 5.
Claims of Lavish Parties and Celebrity Attendance
Shaikh, who is currently in the custody of the Ghatkopar ANC, has alleged that he organized extravagant parties in Dubai and Mumbai attended by prominent personalities—including Siddhanth Kapoor, Orry, Nora Fatehi, filmmakers Abbas–Mustan, rapper Loka, and NCP leader Zeeshan Siddique.
However, police have not yet verified these claims.
An ANC officer told Hindustan Times that the investigation is still in its initial stages and all statements will be examined thoroughly before drawing conclusions.
Luxury Cars Used for Drug Transport
Officials revealed that the traffickers attempted to avoid suspicion by using luxury vehicles such as Mercedes-Benz and BMW cars to move drugs across different areas. Bulk quantities manufactured in Sangli were reportedly transported to Mira Road for further distribution.
According to investigators, the raw materials required for producing mephedrone were supplied by Khubbawala from Surat. Money collected from drug distributors was allegedly routed to the masterminds operating from Dubai through hawala channels.
What the Trafficker Admitted
Police officers said that Shaikh confessed to setting up multiple drug manufacturing units and running a distribution network involving substances like cocaine, MDMA (ecstasy), hashish, charas, and mephedrone.
Orry is expected to be questioned specifically about the revelations made by Shaikh, ANC sources confirmed.
The investigation continues, with authorities working to trace the full network behind one of Maharashtra’s biggest recent drug busts.
