At the recently concluded Indian Independent Film Festival (May-June 2025) in Kolkata, the film was awarded Best Short Film, lauded for its exceptional storytelling and cinematic craftsmanship.

Featuring veteran actress Seema Biswas as the sole character, her captivating and deeply moving performance has been central to the film’s success. Her portrayal has received particular praise for bringing emotional depth and intensity to the minimalist narrative.

Earlier this year, ‘Ansuni Chinkhe’ made its mark at the Jaipur International Film Festival (JIFF) 2025, securing two major awards:

  • Best Director Award for Dr. Parthasarathi Mahanta in the Short Film category

The film also won Best Short Film at the Delhi Short Film Festival 2025, further establishing its reputation as a remarkable entry in contemporary Indian short cinema.

In a significant global achievement, ‘Ansuni Chinkhe’ was showcased in the online segment of the prestigious Marche du Film at Cannes, where it received enthusiastic appreciation from an international audience for its universal themes, subtle storytelling, and minimalist direction.

Produced by Mina Mahanta and Indrani Baruah, the film’s quiet but powerful narrative has resonated widely, shining a spotlight on Assamese cinema on the world stage.

Director Dr. Parthasarathi Mahanta, who also serves as the Chief of the Special Task Force (STF) of Assam Police and Guwahati Police Commissioner, has successfully bridged his public service career with his artistic vision, earning praise for his directorial excellence and storytelling prowess.
