Shiv Sena Criticizes Rahul Gandhi’s Visit To Dharavi, Calls It A ‘YouTuber’ Moment

In the wake of Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Dharavi, Mumbai, where he met with leather workers and artisans at Chamar Studio, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Nirupam criticized the Congress leader’s approach. Nirupam alleged that Rahul Gandhi visited the area not as a Congress leader but rather as a “YouTuber” focused on creating a video for online content.

“Rahul Gandhi yesterday came to Mumbai not as a Congress leader but as a YouTuber to make a video in Dharavi,” Nirupam told media. His remarks come after the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha met designer Sudheer Rajbhar and his team, emphasizing the importance of inclusive production networks that offer opportunities to marginalized communities.

While Gandhi praised the work of Sudheer Rajbhar and his efforts to build a network for underrepresented Dalit youth, Nirupam took aim at the Mumbai Congress, accusing the party of mismanagement. He stated, “While the Mumbai Congress’ condition is getting worse; their leaders are busier making videos. The party in Mumbai has become bankrupt not just by votes but also by money.”

Nirupam further pointed out that the Mumbai Congress office had not paid rent for several months and owed a Rs 5 lakh electricity bill, questioning why Rahul Gandhi did not take the opportunity to meet with his party’s leaders in Mumbai during his visit.

Gandhi, during his visit, expressed admiration for Sudheer Rajbhar, who he said embodied the journey of many Dalit youth across India — talented but lacking access to opportunities. Gandhi’s post on X (formerly Twitter) highlighted how Rajbhar, despite these challenges, had built a successful brand that now has recognition in global fashion circles.
