Shefali Jariwala’s Sudden Death Leaves Fans in Shock; Ex-Husband Harmeet Singh Shares Emotional Tribute

‘Kaanta Laga’ star Shefali Jariwala’s sudden death at 42 stuns the entertainment industry; her ex-husband Harmeet Singh expresses deep sorrow and regret from Europe.

Mumbai, June 29 — The Indian entertainment industry is reeling from the sudden death of Shefali Jariwala, the actor and dancer best known for her iconic appearance in the 2002 music video Kaanta Laga. She was just 42. Fans, friends, and colleagues have been pouring in tributes, remembering her vibrant screen presence and dynamic personality.

Among the heartfelt tributes was an emotional Instagram post by Harmeet Singh, singer and composer from the Meet Bros duo, and Shefali’s former husband. Harmeet, who is currently in Europe, expressed his deep grief and shock at her untimely demise and his regret at not being able to attend her last rites.

“One of the most shocking moments of my life. I’m absolutely shattered and in disbelief after hearing about Shefali’s sudden and untimely demise. We shared a few beautiful years together a long time ago—memories I’ll always hold close to my heart,” Harmeet wrote, sharing an old photo of Shefali.

“My deepest condolences to her parents, Satish ji and Sunita ji, her husband Parag, and her sister Shivani. Being away in Europe right now, it’s painful for me not to be there for the last rites. Gone far too soon. I pray to the Almighty for her soul to rest in peace and for strength to her family during this unimaginable time. Jai Shree Krishna,” he added.

Shefali Jariwala and Harmeet Singh were married in 2004, but the couple separated in 2009 following reported emotional difficulties. She later married television actor Parag Tyagi, and the two often made joint appearances on reality TV.

Shefali was rushed to Bellevue Multispeciality Hospital in Mumbai on June 27, where she was declared dead on arrival. The exact cause of her death has not been made public. Her sudden passing has shocked both her fans and those who knew her personally and professionally.

Shefali gained overnight fame with her bold and unforgettable performance in Kaanta Laga, which became one of the most viewed and talked-about Indian music videos of the early 2000s. She went on to act in the 2004 Bollywood film Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, alongside Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar.

Her television presence also remained strong. She was a prominent contestant in Bigg Boss 13 (2019) and previously appeared in dance reality shows like Nach Baliye 5 and Nach Baliye 7, both times partnering with her husband Parag Tyagi.

Shefali’s passing is being mourned by fans across the country, many of whom remember her as a bold, trendsetting artist who never shied away from being herself—both on and off the screen.
