Washington DC [US]: Hollywood stars Michael Sheen and Eva Longoria are set to headline the upcoming family holiday comedy “The 12 Days of Christmas”, directed by BAFTA nominee Ben Gregor, Variety reports.
Based on the bestselling novel “The 12 Topsy-Turvy Very Messy Days of Christmas” by James Patterson and Ted Safran, the film tells the heartwarming and chaotic story of the Sullivan family, who are forced to rediscover the spirit of Christmas when unexpected gifts begin arriving at their door.
Michael Sheen will play Henry Sullivan, a grieving widower who, along with his two children, Will and Ella, has cancelled Christmas for five consecutive years — until mysterious presents begin arriving, starting with a partridge in a pear tree, and continuing in line with the classic holiday song. What follows is a comical and heartfelt avalanche of birds, animals, and unexpected guests, upending their lives in hilarious ways.
Eva Longoria joins the cast as Mariana, an officer from Animal Protection Services, likely entangled in the family’s animal-filled chaos.
“Even though this Christmas will be messy, it might turn out to be just the gift the family needs,” reads the official synopsis.
Co-writer James Patterson expressed excitement over the casting, saying, “We couldn’t be more excited about Michael Sheen and Eva Longoria leading the cast. The same goes for Ben Gregor.”
Separately, Longoria was also recently honoured with the Platino Honor at the 12th Platino Awards in Madrid for her contributions to film and television.
