The public and often heated legal struggle between Indian cricketer Mohammed Shami and his separated wife, Hasin Jahan, is still going on on social media. Shami talked about his personal life in a recent interview, and Jahan posted something vague on Instagram that made it sound like she had been under a lot of stress and pressure.
“Pagal awara Kutto se darna hota mujhe, to 2018 me hi dar jaati,” Jahan wrote in her post. No matter how hard you try to scare me, bend me, or destroy me, I will get stronger and stronger by the grace of Allah, inshallah. I would have been fearful of crazy dogs in 2018 if I were afraid of them. You can try to terrify me, ruin me, and do whatever you want, but with Allah’s help, I will only get stronger.
This statement seems to be a direct answer to Shami’s recent interview in which he talked about his personal life and the legal problems he is having. When asked if he wished he had done things differently in the past, the fast bowler was firm. “Don’t do that. I don’t ever feel bad about the past. What is gone is gone. I don’t want to point fingers at anyone, including myself. I want to put all my attention on cricket. He said, “I don’t need these problems.”
Jahan’s use of “2018” is an obvious reference to the year their public fight started. In 2018, Jahan went to the Jadavpur police station and filed a First Information Report (FIR) against Shami and his family, saying that they had been abusive at home and that the cricketer had fixed matches. The pair were married in 2014, but they have been living apart since then and are now fighting over their divorce.
Jahan has made a number of public claims against Shami over the years, including claims of physical and mental torture. Recently, she dubbed him a “womanizer” and said he was spending money on his girlfriends instead of taking care of their daughter’s schooling. A recent verdict by the Kolkata High Court said that Shami must pay Jahan and their daughter ₹4 lakh a month for their upkeep.
The public dispute on social media and in person keeps adding fresh chapters to the high-profile legal struggle, which keeps the public very interested in the personal lives of the cricketer and his split wife.
