Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], January 17: Actor Shahid Kapoor expressed his shock and concern over the recent attack on Saif Ali Khan, emphasizing that such incidents are uncommon in Mumbai, which is typically seen as a ‘very safe city’.
Saif Ali Khan is currently recovering at Lilavati Hospital after being attacked by an intruder at his Bandra residence in the early hours of Thursday. During the trailer launch of his upcoming film Deva, Shahid shared his thoughts on the shocking incident and wished for Saif’s speedy recovery.
“It’s a very sad incident, and the entire industry is concerned about him. It’s hard to process something like this, especially when it happens in your personal space and, more so, in Mumbai. I am sure the police are doing their best. Mumbai is known for being a very safe city where we proudly say that our families and women are safe even late at night. This has been very shocking for all of us. We’re all hoping and praying for his recovery,” Shahid said.
Saif Ali Khan, who was attacked when attempting to intervene in a confrontation between his maid and an intruder, sustained several stab wounds during the altercation. He underwent surgery at Lilavati Hospital, where doctors removed a 2.5-inch knife lodged in his spine. While he is now “out of danger,” his condition is still being closely monitored by medical staff.
The attack has sent shockwaves through both the film industry and political circles, with many expressing their concern and sending well-wishes to Saif.
Saif has since been moved out of the ICU, according to hospital officials. Deva, Shahid Kapoor’s latest film, is slated for release on January 31.
