Ranchi (Jharkhand) [India]: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Pratul Shahdeo was detained by the police while protesting against the murder of BJP leader Anil Tiger in Ranchi.
Speaking to media, Shahdeo criticized the administration, stating:
“Instead of catching criminals, political leaders who are protesting peacefully are being taken away by the police.”
BJP Calls Ranchi “Crime Capital” After Anil Tiger’s Murder
Shahdeo condemned the killing of Anil Tiger, calling it “unfortunate” and raising concerns over Ranchi’s law and order situation.
“The way Anil Tiger was killed—he was a senior BJP leader—it is very unfortunate. Ranchi is becoming the crime capital. Just 25 meters away from the police station, in broad daylight, a public representative was murdered. Today, the police are here to detain me… I wish they had shown the same urgency when bullets were fired at him,” Shahdeo said.
Police Arrest Accused After Encounter
Following the murder of Anil Tiger on Wednesday, police arrested an accused after an encounter.
“An accused in the murder of BJP leader Anil Tiger has been arrested after an encounter. He was shot in the thigh. After identification, police teams pursued him, but he opened fire. In retaliation, he was shot and taken into custody. The investigation is ongoing,” said SSP Ranchi.
BJP Protests Against Jharkhand Government
After the murder, BJP leaders and workers staged protests, raising slogans against the Jharkhand state government over the deteriorating law and order situation.
BJP MLA Navin Jaiswal accused Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s government of failing to control rising crime.
“Since their government has been formed in Jharkhand, criminal activities have increased. The police administration has failed as they are busy looting lands and coal instead of maintaining law and order. Hemant Soren should resign from the post of Chief Minister,” Jaiswal stated.
Union Minister Calls for “Yogi Model” in Jharkhand
Union Minister Sanjay Seth also criticized CM Hemant Soren’s governance, claiming that criminals have “a free hand” in Jharkhand.
“The whole of Jharkhand, including Ranchi, is in the grip of criminals. The rule of law has collapsed, and criminals roam freely. Law and order have completely failed. We will take to the streets tomorrow and protest strongly against this crime and this dishonest government. Criminals have fled from Uttar Pradesh because they fear the ‘Yogi model.’ Implement the ‘Yogi model’ in Jharkhand, and crime will stop,” said Seth.
As the political heat rises, BJP leaders are expected to escalate their protests, demanding stronger action against crime in the state.
