New Delhi, April 18 – The brutal murder of a 17-year-old boy named Kunal in Delhi’s Seelampur area has triggered political reactions, public protests, and heightened concerns over the city’s law and order.
AAP leader Atishi took to social media to slam the BJP-led central government and Delhi Police, questioning their response to rising crime.
“The murder of a 17-year-old youth in Seelampur is another example of the deteriorating law and order situation in Delhi. What is the Delhi Police doing? What is Home Minister Amit Shah doing?” she wrote on X.
According to Delhi Police, Kunal was stabbed and later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. A case has been registered at the Seelampur police station, and multiple teams have been formed to identify and arrest the suspects.
In response to the incident, locals and the victim’s family staged a protest, blocking a nearby road and demanding swift justice. To prevent further unrest, a heavy police deployment was seen in the area.
BJP MP Manoj Tiwari also reacted strongly to the incident, calling it “extremely concerning.”
“Most of the criminals have been identified, and a thorough investigation is ongoing. The criminals may try to hide anywhere, but they will be arrested and severely punished,” he said in a post on X.
Tiwari also appealed for calm:
“The anger is understandable, but I urge people to maintain peace and let the police do their job.”
He assured the family of his full support and announced plans to visit the scene at 2:30 PM to assess the situation personally.
The tragic killing has once again put a spotlight on public safety and governance accountability in the national capital.
