Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh: Security measures have been intensified outside the Samajwadi Party (SP) office and the residence of party chief Akhilesh Yadav in Lucknow on Saturday morning. The move comes amid fears of protests by SP workers following the alleged “detention” of party leader Manish Jagan Agarwal.
Manish Jagan Agarwal serves as the president of the SP’s Vyapar Sabha.
To prevent any unrest, police personnel from multiple stations have been deployed near the SP office, and barricades have been put up in the area.
SP chief Akhilesh Yadav is scheduled to address a press conference later in the afternoon. “Police suspect party workers may stage a protest before or after the conference,” sources revealed.
In a post on X, the Samajwadi Party alleged that Lucknow Police had forcibly taken Agarwal from his residence. The party also warned that if any harm came to Agarwal or his family, Lucknow Police would be held responsible.
