Anantnag (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], June 30: With the Amarnath Yatra 2025 set to begin on July 3, security forces have intensified patrols and inspections across key areas including Ramban, Banihal, Anantnag, and Pahalgam to ensure a safe pilgrimage.
Security officials carried out thorough checks and reviewed logistical arrangements at various Yatra routes, notably the Baltal and Pahalgam corridors, which will be used by thousands of devotees heading to the sacred Amarnath cave shrine.
Speaking on the preparedness, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah confirmed that Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has chaired two major meetings—one with political leaders and another with civil society representatives—to ensure that pilgrims receive proper facilities and support during the yatra.
“We are eagerly waiting for pilgrims to arrive. All necessary security and logistical arrangements have been made. The Yatra will be flagged off from Jammu on July 2. We hope devotees come in large numbers, offer their prayers peacefully, and return safely,” CM Abdullah said.
Registration centres across Jammu and Kashmir witnessed a high turnout of enthusiastic devotees. Dismissing concerns over past incidents, one pilgrim said, “There is no fear. The arrangements are good. The administration is with us.” Another devotee added, “We have faith in Amarnath. Terror threats won’t stop us. Let the world see that we remain united and undeterred.”
To ensure seamless movement and safety, the CRPF has deployed a multi-layered security grid along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44), a lifeline for the pilgrimage. Measures include intensified surveillance, deployment of K-9 squads, and increased patrolling, particularly around sensitive areas like the Udhampur sector.
The first batch of pilgrims will set off from the Jammu base camp on July 2, ahead of the official commencement of the Yatra on July 3 via the twin routes.
