The Supreme Court has put together a bigger three-judge panel to hear the issue of stray dogs in Delhi-NCR again. This is because there was a lot of public outcry over its last decision. The hearing will take place on Thursday, August 14.
It was just a few hours after Chief Justice BR Gavai brought up the subject in open court that the decision to establish a new bench was made.
The first order, which came from a two-judge bench on August 11, said that all stray canines in the area should be “removed” and taken to shelters. The decree caused a lot of anger among animal rights advocates and the general public, who questioned its scientific basis. Justices Vikram Nath, Sandeep Mehta, and NV Anjaria will now hear the case.
