Savannah Guthrie Pleads With Alleged Kidnappers As Search For Missing Mother Nancy Guthrie Continues In Arizona

New Delhi:
The urgent investigation into the apparent kidnapping of 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie, the mother of “Today” show host Savannah Guthrie, continued on Sunday, nearly a week after she was reported missing from her home in Arizona.

In a solemn video message released on social media Saturday, Savannah Guthrie addressed the potential kidnappers directly, saying the family was willing to pay for her mother’s safe return. Standing alongside her siblings, Guthrie said they had received a message from those believed to be responsible and emphasised that bringing Nancy home safely was their top priority.

“We received your message. This is the only way we will have peace. This is very valuable to us, and we will pay,” she said in the emotional appeal.

FBI Reviews Message Sent to Local TV Station

An FBI spokesperson confirmed that Guthrie’s statement referred to a message sent to Tucson-based television station KOLD on Friday. The station declined to share details of the communication while the FBI conducts its review, citing the ongoing investigation.

Meanwhile, detectives and federal agents continued follow-up operations at multiple locations, according to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, which said it would not release details about those investigative steps at this stage.

No Suspects Identified Yet

Authorities said they have not identified any suspects, persons of interest, or vehicles linked to the case. On Sunday, sheriff’s deputies were seen at Nancy Guthrie’s home, with multiple vehicles arriving and officers entering the property for more than 20 minutes before leaving without comment.

Investigators believe Nancy Guthrie was taken against her will last weekend from her home outside Tucson. DNA testing confirmed that blood found on her front porch matched her, Sheriff Chris Nanos previously said.

Ransom Letters and Deadlines Under Review

Several media outlets have reportedly received alleged ransom letters over the past week. At least one letter contained monetary demands and set deadlines for Thursday and Monday evenings. Law enforcement officials have not confirmed the authenticity of the letters but stated that all tips and communications are being treated seriously.

Health Concerns Add Urgency

Authorities expressed increasing concern for Nancy Guthrie’s health, noting that she requires daily medication and has a pacemaker, along with a history of high blood pressure and heart problems. These factors have heightened the urgency of the search.

Public and White House Reaction

The case has captured national attention, with supporters leaving candles and messages of solidarity near Nancy Guthrie’s home. The White House confirmed that President Donald Trump spoke with Savannah Guthrie last week, and Trump later told reporters that investigators had “very strong” clues in the case.

The video released Saturday marked the third public plea this week from the family, underscoring their desperation and hope for Nancy Guthrie’s safe return.
