New Delhi [India], January 28: Delhi Minister and AAP candidate for Greater Kailash, Saurabh Bhardwaj, hit back at the BJP’s accusations regarding illegal immigration, placing the responsibility on the BJP-led central government and the state governments of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
Bhardwaj questioned why the BJP government allowed Bangladeshi immigrants to enter India, suggesting that if the blame is to be placed on anyone, it should be on the ruling parties at the Centre and in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, not the Aam Aadmi Party. “If we are to be blamed for the illegal immigrants in Delhi, then they must have entered in the last 10 years, as we have been in power here for that long. The BJP government at the Centre and in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh should be held accountable for allowing them to enter,” Bhardwaj said.
As the Delhi Assembly elections approach, the war of words between the AAP and BJP is heating up. The elections are scheduled for February 5, 2025, with results to be declared on February 8, 2025.
Earlier, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath accused AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal of enabling the issuance of Aadhaar cards to Bangladeshi infiltrators, claiming that Aadhaar-making machines were being used at the homes of AAP leaders.
BJP leader Ramesh Bidhuri also accused AAP of facilitating the issuance of ration and Aadhaar cards for Rohingya refugees and “Bangladeshi infiltrators,” and promised that if the BJP forms the government in Delhi, they will build detention centres for these groups within the first 30 days. “AAP leaders have made Aadhaar and ration cards for Rohingyas and Bangladeshi infiltrators… This should be investigated. If BJP forms the government, detention centres will be built to house them,” Bidhuri told ANI.
