Satellite imagery released by Maxar Technologies and reviewed by Reuters has confirmed the destruction of two key terror headquarters — Markaz Subhan Allah in Bahawalpur and Markaz Taiba in Muridke — in the aftermath of India’s Operation Sindoor, a precision missile strike campaign launched early Wednesday in retaliation for the Pahalgam terror attack of April 22.
The strikes by Indian Armed Forces targeted the core infrastructure of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), both responsible for decades of violence on Indian soil.
🔴 Bahawalpur – Markaz Subhan Allah (JeM HQ)
Before:
High-resolution pre-strike images show the Jamia Masjid Subhan Allah and adjacent training and residential structures fully intact.
After:
Post-strike images show:
- Gaping holes in the mosque’s dome
- Debris-strewn surroundings
- Collapsed buildings
- Widespread structural devastation
Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, addressing a press briefing in Delhi, confirmed:
“The facility was JeM’s operational HQ, located 100 km inside Pakistan. It was specifically targeted and destroyed.”
The complex housed JeM Chief Masood Azhar, Mufti Abdul Rauf Asghar, and other top leadership, and functioned as a training and indoctrination hub since 2015. Intelligence links it to the 2019 Pulwama attack, and to ongoing recruitment of jihadis through sermons and arms training.
🔴 Muridke – Markaz Taiba (LeT HQ)
Before:
Imagery captured a sprawling facility with multiple multi-storey buildings, open grounds, and internal roadways.
After:
Strikes left:
- Major buildings razed
- Training facilities dismantled
- Evidence of fire and blast craters visible
Markaz Taiba, founded in 2000, has long been LeT’s principal centre for:
- Arms training
- Religious radicalisation (dawa’h)
- Hosting foreign terror recruits
Colonel Qureshi disclosed:
“This is the very place where the 2008 Mumbai attackers, including Ajmal Kasab, were trained. Even David Headley had links here. Osama Bin Laden once funded ₹10 million for a mosque and guesthouse in the complex.”
Each year, over 1,000 students are enrolled in courses within this radical campus, underlining its role as a terror churner for LeT across South Asia.
The Indian Armed Forces’ coordinated tri-service strike was executed between 1:05 am and 1:30 am on May 7, targeting nine sites in total. The release of satellite visuals not only validates the scale and accuracy of Operation Sindoor but also sends a strong message about India’s enhanced counter-terror capabilities and its resolve to retaliate with precision.
