Actor Sara Arjun has achieved a major milestone as she topped IMDb’s weekly list of Popular Indian Celebrities, released on Wednesday. The ranking is determined by fans’ online engagement and popularity metrics. Sara, who impressed audiences with her powerful portrayal of Yalina in the blockbuster film Dhurandhar, climbed from the second spot last week to No.1, overtaking big names such as Vijay, Prabhas and Agastya Nanda.
Right behind her on the list is Dhurandhar director Aditya Dhar, who has secured the second position, moving up from third, reflecting the massive buzz surrounding the film and its team.
Vijay, Prabhas, Yami Gautam Also Secure Spots in Top Rankings
Several prominent stars have also featured in the rankings this week. Vijay stands at 8th position, while Agastya Nanda has grabbed the 12th spot. Others on the list include Bhagyashri Borse (15th), Cibi Chakaravarthi (16th), Yami Gautam (17th), Prabhas (19th), Sriram Raghavan (22nd), Tara Sutaria (24th), Dinjith Ayyathan (27th), Nivin (30th) and Simar Bhatia (42nd).
Dhurandhar Creates History as Highest-Grossing Hindi Film Ever
Meanwhile, Dhurandhar continues to dominate headlines with its box office performance. The makers officially announced on Wednesday that the film has become the highest-earning Hindi film in history, registering a staggering ₹831.40 crore nett in India.
With ₹5.70 crore nett collected on Day 33 (Tuesday), the Ranveer Singh-starrer surpassed the previous record-holder — the Hindi version of Allu Arjun’s 2023 blockbuster Pushpa 2: The Rule, which had earned ₹830 crore in Hindi.
Calling it a “historic moment,” the makers issued a statement saying:
“History has been rewritten. With Tuesday’s collections, Dhurandhar has officially risen to become the highest-earning Hindi film of all time, a towering achievement that has redefined Indian box office success.”
About the Film
Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar released on December 5 and stars an impressive ensemble including Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan and Rakesh Bedi. The film is produced by Aditya Dhar and Lokesh Dhar’s B62 Studios, in association with Jio Studios.
Set in Karachi’s Lyari town, known for gang wars and violent turf conflicts, the film has struck a strong chord with audiences. Following its massive success, the makers have already confirmed Dhurandhar Part 2, scheduled to release in theatres on March 19.
